Tree Pruning and Trimming

Tree Pruning and Trimming SERVICE

Pruning and Trimming are often used interchangeably, however, there is a difference between the two. When you remove dead, loose, or infected branches or stems from its respective plant, you are pruning. Trimming, on the other hand, occurs when you are cutting back overgrown plants. Some of the many benefits of pruning and trimming plants on a regular basi are: pest control, protection and stimulating growth.

Pruning and trimming serve many different objectives. Removal of deadwood is probably the most obvious reason for pruning and trimming.

One aspect of pruning is hazardous limb removal. Sometimes limbs can grow very fast and not have enough support strength to withstand high winds, snow or ice. If these limbs are over power lines or roofs they can break and cause damage. Deadwood is also an entry port into the tree for viral, fungal, bacterial pathogens, borers, carpenter ants, and termites.

Trimming is specifically important for the health of your hedges. Trimming out dead or diseased parts of the plant will keep the hedge healthier while allowing new growth to proceed. Removing dead wood also reduces the risk of insect problems in the hedge.
